The woody, dry notes of this ancient Indian root is what endeared it to the Creoles who valued the freshness it gave to belongings stored in humid climates.
The French Word Vetivert, from East Indian "Vettiveru", literally means "root that is dug up". Characterized by its dry, woody fragrance, Vetivert spans continents, civilizations, and centuries of use. Ancient Hindus burned it as offerings to their gods, Creole drawers and closets were freshened by the rare root in early Louisiana homes and it still has many uses in the arid climates of Africa and India. Today Hove has skillfully blended the precious Vetivert perfume oil with the purest tallow and coconut oil to create a truly luxurious soap.
